Making the case for a new religion

In Christianity, you have principles of stewardship, charity, supporting others, and the dignity of work. In Islam, economic principles emphasize hard work, fairness, helping others, and justice. Judaism encourages principles of justice, charity, diligent work, and communal responsibility. Hinduism promotes ideals of duty, action, friendliness towards others, and non-violence, while Buddhism underlines the principles of compassion, working true and hard, non-harm, and interconnectedness of all beings. Overall, every religion speaks about work and connection being two important tenants. But when you look at the problems in the world, many can be traced back to religion. Laws written to discriminate, ban, and divide us often use religion as their foundation. Wars and terroristic atrocities are committed year after year, century after century, millennia after millennia in the name of one god or another. So, why cling to the relics of the ancient world when we have a system in place that billions of people already practice on a daily basis? A system that preaches hard work and interconnectedness, and that all people, rich and poor, cling to and live by? The religion for the modern person called Capitalism.

While this is more a metaphorical argument than a literal one, why couldn’t capitalism be treated the same as any other religion and become…
